Check whether the receipt image is readable.

A saved image is not useful evidence when its amount or reference cannot be read.

01

Start with the evidence

Open the image at a practical reading size and check the merchant, date, total and relevant lines. Look for glare, blur and missing edges before the original is put away.

02

Work through the example

The total is clear but the date is obscured by glare. A second capture should resolve that specific gap; increasing the filename detail cannot repair the missing source information.

03

Make the next step clear

Retain the best complete image and identify any unresolved field. Do not guess unreadable digits. If another document supplies context, link it as supporting evidence rather than pretending it appeared on the receipt.

04

Keep the source context

A readable source and a clear label serve different purposes. Keep the original document intact while adding searchable context around it. Avoid treating filenames, OCR output or a cropped image as more authoritative than the actual source.
